Abstract

As part of the government's effort to combat the threatening effects of COVID-19, the Department of Agriculture issued adirective to re-align the existing budget of all attached agencies and come up with centralized projects that will focus on increasing fish production among fish farmers, thereby securing food demand and at the same time gaining additional income. The Brackishwater Fisheries Research and Development Center (BFRDC) in Lala, Lanao del Norte, heeded the call of the time and implemented two extension programs to help fish farmers in the locality. The said projects were on the Technology Promotion of Bangus and Saline Tilapia Nursery Rearing in Brackishwater Ponds. This aims to promote good management practices, contribute to the increase of fish productivity in the region, and provide additional income to fisherfolk by giving out fingerlings as seed starters and rendering technical assistance.
