NSAP in the 4th quarter of 2020

Abstract

The NSAP monitoring team conducted three virtual FMA-clustered meetings on October 1, 7, and 14, 2020 in order to ascertain the current status of the 12 FMAs in the country. As of November 2020, 67% of the Management Board (MB), 42% of the Scientific Advisory Group (SAG), and 50% of the Technical Working Group (TWG) have been formed. The meetings also reported data consolidation and analysis per FMA to come up with top species with their respective indicators and proposed harvest control rule (HCR). NSAP has provided the top 20 species for all FMA and has started analyzing sustainability indicators that would serve as a basis in proposing appropriate HCRs, which would then be developed as policies or fishery rules and regulations.
